It is excellent for getting the bend side-to-side (laterals) on a horse as well as softening the neck and poll. It is a great bit to teach a colt to gather. (sit – say whoa – take ahold) It can be used to allow an over-bitted horse to put his head back to its natural position and give him confidence. It can also be used to soften one that is running through the bit. I go back to this bit instead of going to longer shanks when a horse is getting too aggressive on the bit. This piece of equipment is designed to help you get the soft side to side neck and soft poll without pulling your horse's head downward.
